High school all over again?  Who would  have thought!
In this twisted spin-off from the movie Big (1988), Mike O’Donnell (Matthew Perry) is hating everything about his life. Â He lives with his nerd best friend Ted (Thomas Lennon) because his wife Scarlett (Leslie Mann) kicked him out and has filed for divorce. Â Mike can’t get a break at work, and his kids want nothing to do with him. Â Mike wishes he could do it all over again, and a school janitor overhears him and asks “Are you sure about that?” Â Mike said absolutely and the janitor disappears. Â Late that night, Mike sees the janitor standing on the ledge of a bridge and follows him through a tunnel. Â Mike has changed back into his 17 year old body (Zac Efron) and goes back to high school. Â Mike is learning more about his wife and family than he ever thought he would, and is afraid to lose them forever. Â He becomes very close with the family he once was so far away from and helps them through these rough times of being in high school, as well as being a single mom. Â Mike realizes that he is nothing without his family and would not change anything about his past life. Â Michelle Trachtenburg and Sterling Knight star also star as the O’Donnell children.
I enjoyed this film very much. Â It is very funny and has a lot of young adult humor that everyone can enjoy. Â I am head over heels for Zac Efron, and not only do I think he is gorgeous, but I also think he is an amazing actor and performer. Â Thomas Lennon was hilarious as the nerdy best friend and “pretend” dad! Â I loved the story line of the movie, and it really makes you think that you should never take anything for granted or have any past regrets in life.
I give this movie 4.5 stars and have already bought the Blue-Ray/DVD combo pack for myself! Â If you loved the movie Big, you will fall in love with 17 Again!
