One of the best comedies of my generation!

American Wedding is the third movie in the American Pie series of films, and I decided to watch this one since I will be getting married in less than 2 months.  Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs) has been dating Michelle Flaherty (Alyson Hannigan) for a while now, and feels that it is time to pop the question.  Well, the opening scene shows this very different type of proposal, and of course Michelle accepts.  Jim’s parents throw the happy couple to be an engagement party inviting close friends Paul Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Kevin Myers (Thomas Ian Nicolas), as well as the bride’s parents Mary and Harold (Deborah Rush and Fred Willard).  This is the first time that Jim will be meeting his future in laws and let’s just say, it is not the best first impression!

Stifler (Seann William Scott)  stops by the house thinking it is a graduation party, but finds out that Jim is getting married.  All he cares about is the bachelor party and hooking up with the bridesmaids.  Throughout the wedding planning, we see Michelle getting discourged that she can not find the perfect dress and Jim comes to the rescue by traveling to Chicago to find the designer to make her one, which includes a gay bar and a crazy dance off.  Meanwhile, Michelle’s sister, Cadence (January Jones) flies in for the wedding and Stifler and Finch fight for time with her.  Once the wedding weekend arrives, everything that can go wrong, does go wrong, but as we all know, everything works out for the best!

American Wedding delivers a lot of crude humor, and is one of the best comedies I have seen.  Anyone from my generation who loves the American Pie films, will surely enjoy this one.  It is definitely a movie to watch in with a group of couples or your significant other.  I found myself laughing throughout a lot of the movie and I hope you do too!  I really started to get excited and nervous for my own wedding by watching this film hoping that some of these disasters do not go wrong for my wedding!
