Russell Brand stars in the 1981 remake is Arthur Bach, a very rich and very spoiled 30 year old who does whatever he pleases.  His trouble has caused quite a scene with his mother and it is time for him to grow up.  He is given the ultimatum to marry Susan (Jennifer Garner) and keep his inheritance.  If he chooses not to, he will be cut off.  Arthur, being the person he is, takes the deal and chooses to marry Susan.  After making this promise, he meets the girl of his dreams Naomi (Greta Gerwig) who changes his life and he starts to feel that marrying Susan might be a mistake.  Throughout his whole journey, he has one person who helps him along with way and cares for him which is his nanny Hobson (Helen Mirren).  Arthur is trying to get his life on track, but Susan and alcohol just seem to be in the way.
I wasted an entire Saturday afternoon watching this horrible film.  The only reason I did not shut it off, was so I could write the review.  I do not like Russell Brand, and this film made me not like him even more.  The entire film is just about a drunk, rich, spoiled child who has to learn to take care of himself without the help of his nanny, and  I just could not get into this film.  It was supposed to be a comedy, but I just did not like it.  Do not waste the time to rent!

I too disliked Russell Brand. (notice the past tense). I hated most films he was in, however, since watching him on SNL last season, I have actually come to the realization that he is quite comical indeed! Last Russell Brand movie I saw was “Get Him to the Greek” which I can also say barely deserved one star. Maybe he should just stick to comedy sketches? Thanks for the review, and I will take your advice and NOT watch this one.
