So, I finally saw Avatar and it was incredible! Thank you to the mystery person that sent me free passes to see it at the imax in 3d!
Paralyzed from the waist down, marine Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) was given the opportunity to replace his deceased twin brother in a very important mission on the majestic Pandora. The mission involved transitioning from the human life form to the blue-being Na’vi.
A successful transition led to Jake discovering the magical and spiritual culture of the Na’vi people. Jake reported back to the researchers while simultaneously updating the military head in secret. The military planned to destroy the Na’vi in order to demolish their most precious and sacred land so they could prosper over an incredibly rich rock.
However, a somewhat predictable twist occurred where Jake fell in like with the Na’vi way of life and in love with the powerful and beautiful Neytiri (Zoe Saldona). The military finally figured out that Jake was no longer working for them and decided to take their own action.
Avatar was amazing and unlike any other movie I have seen before. The magical land of Pandora is so appealing. Almost everything glows and floats in unbelievable ways that make one desire this sort of utopian lifestyle. The connections the Na’vi have with their plants and animals is admirably beautiful.
I was only a smidge disappointed with was the fact that I could predict some of the outcomes. Also, it wasn’t as suspenseful as I had hoped, however, the superb acting made up for the predictability. Sam Worthington was fabulous as Jake Sully. He transitioned from the perfect non –fearful marine mindset to the spiritual and observant Na’vi. His challenging Na’vi role was so strong and intriguing and his acting adapted perfectly. Zoe Saldana was also very fabulous as one of the most powerfully believable Na’vi. I can’t even imagine the creative thought process that went into filming Avatar. James Cameron must have an unbelievably eccentric mind.
Additionally, I feel like the moral of Avatar is to be open and accepting others cultural beliefs. Humans are often close-minded, selfish and oblivious to the realities surrounding them. Avatar illustrates the outcome of killing the innocent for someone’s own prosperity. Only a select few were able to accept the Na’vi way of life and realize that they are a uniquely sacred life form.
Please, if you haven’t seen Avatar yet, go see it! It is amazingly put together and you will definitely be entertained throughout the whole film! It is also quite fabulous in 3d although you might end up with glasses lines on your nose and forehead like me
