Beastly

Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) is the hottest, coolest and most conceited guy of his high school.  He thinks that looks are the only thing that can get you anywhere.  When he runs for president of the green club, he beats out everyone because of his looks and makes comments about it.  Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen) sees otherwise and warns Kyle of his behavior.  He thinks it would be funny to invite her to the school dance and then never show up for her.  Kendra agrees to go giving him one last chance.  Kyle meets the new treasurer, Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens) and notices something special about her.  They take their picture for the school yearbook, and then he spots Kendra.  He laughs and jokes with her about being ditched, but Kendra does not find it so funny and cast a spell on him.  Kyle starts to feel funny and goes outside for fresh air, meeting Kendra up on the roof.  Kyle has one year to have someone fall in love with him with just his personality and Kendra took his good looks away.

Kyle’s father buys him a new home far away from everyone so he is not seen, leaving him only to live with his housekeeper Zola (Lisa Gay Hamiliton) and a blind tutor Will (Neil Patrick Harris).  Kyle is bitter and has a hard time living alone and without his looks to help him out, until he leaves on the night of a halloween party and runs into Lindy.  She seems sweet and he starts to fall for her, and follows her around the city.  One day, her father gets into a bad drug deal and Lindy’s life is on the line.  Kyle offers to keep Lindy safe in his home, and Lindy’s father agrees to keep her locked up there until things smooth over. Lindy does not agree, but goes anyway, not speaking to anyone in the home for a while.  Slowly, she comes around and Kyle and Lindy become friends, which he hopes to lead to something more.

Beastly is the modern day fairy tale Beauty and the Beast, and also based on the novel written by Alex Flinn.  I love the Disney animated version, and thought the book was very well written, but I was extremely disappointed by the film.  I was so bored that I fell asleep!  It strays away from the book too much, and I just could not get into it.  It was also a very short film and left out a lot of detail that should have been in the movie.  I would not suggest watching it anytime soon unless you are having a hard time falling asleep.

I am a kindergarten teacher and everyday is something new and exciting. I am also a cheerleading coach at Benet Academy. I have a dog named Paisley and a husband named Steve. I absolutely love shopping, beaches, and anything Disney. I also like to read a lot and listen to music, especially country. My favorite genre of movies is romantic comedies, which are the ideal chick flicks!
