Charlie (Zac Efron) and Sam (Charlie Tahan) are not only brothers, but they are best friends. Â They sail and play baseball together, but Charlie is off to Stanford on a sailing scholarship. Â Charlie promises Sam that every day at sunset cannons he will play ball with him until he leaves for college. Â That evening, Charlie tries to sneak out while on Sam duty to go to a graduation party, but Sam catches him, and they go together. Â On the way there, a horrific car accident happens. Â Sam does not make it, but Charlie receives a second chance to live. Â The day of the funeral, Charlie runs into the woods and sees Sam there, making a promise to play catch everyday at sunset cannons.Five years later, we see Sam working as the graveyard keeper, and keeping his promise to see Sam everyday. Â The whole town thinks that Charlie is crazy, but he continues the same pattern everyday. Â Charlie has not sailed since the accident, but is intrigued by Tess Carroll (Amanda Crew) and studies her boat. Â He runs into her right before she leaves for a test run before she sails the world. Â A couple days later, he finds Tess in the graveyard by her father’s tomb injured. Â He cleans her up and the two start to talk and spend a lot of time together, almost so much that Charlie almost misses seeing Sam. Â Charlie’s head is playing so many tricks on him, his heart does not know where to turn.
I do not want to give away the movie, so I will say no more. Â You need to watch to see what happens. Â I really did not know what the film was about before I watched it, but I think most people can predict what happens. Â I rated this film a 3. Â I am glad I didn’t pay to see it in the theaters, but it was good to watch on a snowy cold evening! Â Ladies, leaves this film for a night in to yourself or with some of your girlfriends. Â Most men would probably fall asleep from this drama film.
