Famous country singer Kelly Canter (Gwyneth Paltrow) is being released from rehab for alcoholism. Â Almost a year ago in Dallas, she was 5 months pregnant, tripped and fell of the stage, and was completely drunk. Â Her ‘friend’ Beau Hutton (Garrett Hedlund) doesn’t think she is ready to leave, but her husband and manager James Canter (Tim McGraw) insists she leaves and has an encore tour, which will end in Dallas. Â Kelly asks if Beau can open for her, but James said that he wants a new rising star Chiles Stanton (Leighton Meester). Â Beau and Chiles are playing at the same bar, and when Chiles freezes up onstage, Beau helps her out, and James wants them both for the tour. Â Along the way, Kelly struggles not only with her abuse of alcohol, but her marriage as well. Â She can not get on the stage at all, and when she does, it is just a recipe for disaster. Â Her career and marriage, as well as secret love life with Beau is spiraling out of control, and no one can help Kelly at this point. Â While her opening acts are starting new and blossoming careers, Kelly’s is slowly plunging, and James just ignores it and keeps pushing her for more and more.
If you love country music, love stories, and celebrity rehab, add this to your Netflix queue! Â My husband and I watched it because of our love for country music, and I fell in love this film. Â I would watch it again and again! Â I loved the music, but watching how fame can destroy a person, is really sad. Â This is a must see for all you country girls!

Glad you enjoyed it. Now I’ll definitely check it out.
i’ve always wanted to see this movie! thanks for the review!
Thanks for the review! I really liked this movie too. The music was great (and I am not a country music fan), it was definately a chick-flick and there was no real ‘bad’ guy. It was not as predictable as I thought it would be either.
