Crazy Love

Crazy Love is a biography of a love story; not just your typical run-of-the-mill biography. It follows the absolutely insane story of two people: Burt Pugache, an incredibly successful lawyer in New York City, and Linda Riss, a pin-up-type-beautiful girl growing up with her family, sans father, in the Bronx. The two have had completely eccentric upbringings for the 30′s, Burt growing up with a mother who beats him, and Linda growing up in a house just with her mother and grandmother. They’re both struggling to come of age in a time where America, too, is just settling into its current state of controversy and lax morals, shall I say? They meet while Linda is fresh out of high school, and what the boys then would call a tease, and he is a play-boy who owns a nightclub, a private plane, a convertible Cadillac and a Lincoln, makes upwards of $60k per year when the average household income is about $4,000, and wins Linda over with this lavish lifestyle. But who knew, particularly not Linda, a morally just young lady with a full life ahead of her, that Burt was certainly not what he appeared to be, as he appeared to be a successful lawyer with a crush on a young lady…Linda finds out he’s married and demands that they not see each other again until he’s divorced, so what is a lawyer with no intentions of legally divorcing his wife to do? Type of false documents, of course, to coerce her into getting back with him.

But this is literally just the tip of the iceberg in this blinding love affair. The amount of insanity is nearly too much to handle and my husband and I were in shock nearly the entire time. Burt seems like a completely insane individual, and does til this very day, and Linda is merely this fabulous old dame with dark glasses and fancy costume jewelry with rough language and a New York accent. She’s wearing fabulous shades with rhinestones and smoking Virginia Slims and you immediately fall in love with her. But you just know there’s something off about Burt.

If you’re interested in biographies, this is definitely one to watch. It’s a crazy, insane story that will literally make you ask  your TV, “what?!” over and over again. You can’t believe the thoughts that must be rolling around in these two peoples’ heads, but you can’t help but adore Linda. I definitely recommend this movie and give it 4.5 stars!

Hi! I'm Cat. I currently live with my husband, Kyle, and my dog-like cat, Mazzy in the Northwest Chicago Suburbs, but am originally from the cornfields of Illinois. I am the Marketing Coordinator at a growing Property Management company which basically means I put ads up on Craig's List every day. I'm really into antiquing, cooking, baking, cleaning, and anything else domestic, as well as writing and all sorts of art. I'm very picky with movies. It has to have a certain artistic feel to it for me to personally enjoy it, or at least get to click with it...I'm also really picky about different breeds of humor. Basically I'm just picky! My favorite movies include: The Virgin Suicides, Big Fish, Lost in Translation, A Christmas Story, Almost Famous, American Beauty, Forrest Gump, Edward Scissorhands, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fried Green Tomatoes, Ghost World...the list goes on (and yes, I did just look at my rated Netflix account!). I'm really into period pieces (Changeling, Public Enemies...) and anything with a great artistic vision (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the Science of Sleep [notice a Michel Gondry trend?]). I'm definitely looking forward to watching new movies and essentially ripping them to shreds! :)
