This film wasn't toooo bad to sit through, I must say. I completely agree w/ your synopsis. I am not a fan of romantic mush---but "Dear John" was quite enjoyable. I also enjoyed the fact that this story revolved around the guy. I was shocked at some surprises near the end and I can't say that I was entirely happy about the ending, but overall I enjoyed myself. Kudos to Richard Jenkins!! His character was most memorable and phenomenally acted. I believe most Nicholas Sparks fans will not be disappointed with this one!
