I had asked my son what his thoughts were about this film, and he just had two words for me….â€Good and Funny!â€Â And, I totally agree with him.
This movie is about two supervillains who are in competition on who can steal the next biggest thing. Gru (Steve Carrell) feels threatened when he learns that there is another supervillain amidst him who has stolen the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt. After Gru meets the supervillan,Vector (Jason Segel) coincidentally, he comes up with a plan using three orphan girls, cookie robots, and minions to steal the moon….yes, the moon. I thought that this was totally impossible, but apparently NOT if you have a “Shrink Ray.â€
Dr. Nefario (Russell Brand) not only is the creator for all of Gru’s mastermind ideas, he also continues to give Gru focus on stealing the moon. Gru grows more fondly of the three orphan girls, Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier), and Agnes (Elsie Fisher) that he had adopted. Their desire to be loved changes Gru completely. Dr. Nefario sees this and believes the children to be a distraction for Gru so he calls Miss Hattie (Kristen Wiig), mistress of the orphanage, to come and get the children. Gru accomplishes his goal and races back to Earth to save his relationship with the girls, but finds out that he is too late. Dr. Nefario and the minions help Gru and save the children from Vector who had kidnapped them, and they live happily as one dark, happy family.
There were definitely funny parts within the film where I caught myself and other adults in the theatre laughing uncontrollably. My favorite part was when it was storybook reading time….”Three little kittens….”
If you are considering to see this film soon, I would recommend making it a matinee.  My son and I did not see it in 3-D, but we were both fine with it…not a necessity.

i thought this was surprsingly funny. it’s funny because i don’t think that steve carrell is funny generally but loved him in this.
Hmmm….I was hot and cold when I saw the previews for this one. It might be a rental for me.
