Dinner for Schmucks

Dinner for Schmucks was everything is was hyped up to be!  Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, and Zach Galifianakis did not let audiences down with their movie debut film this past weekend.  This comedy is everything you need it to be in a great humor film with a little extra quirkiness on the side.

Tim (Rudd) is a rising executive who is willing to do anything to get to the top.  On the brink of asking his girlfriend to marry him (again), Rudd knows what it is going to take to get to the high rolling position and impress his boss.  When he is invited to a “dinner for idiots” by the big boss himself, Tim knows he can’t let this one down.  His co-workers explain that everyone invited must bring a “friend” who is an absolute complete idiot.  The rest of the night is spent making fun of the idiots and someone is eventually crowned the biggest schmuck A.K.A. “most interesting.”

Tim literally stumbles on Barry (Carell) who fits the perfect criteria for his schmuck party.  As Tim and Barry spend time together and the story unfolds, Tim is left with a decision to either make it to the top or stand up for the good of all idiots.

Dinner for Schmucks is a classic comedy movie that will have you belly-laughing in no time.  At the beginning of the movie I was a bit skeptical and was hoping that this movie wouldn’t be an all slap-stick-just-laugh-at-the-stupid-guy type of film.  Once I embraced the stupidity of Carell’s character this movie flowed a lot smoother for me.  I will say that as soon as Zach Galifianakis entered the movie, I knew things were going upward.  His character was absolutely priceless and brilliantly portrayed.  Dinner for Schmucks is feel-good comedy that everyone (men and women) can enjoy.  My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and I think everyone else in the theater did, as well.  If you aren’t going to see it in theaters, at the very least give it a rental or download as soon as you can.  I think most audiences will enjoy this one!

I am a 20-something female from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL. I am married and a proud parent of two wonderful cats, Klaus and Liza! I love playing board games & video games, reading anything, talking to people, yoga, and drinking lots and lots of coffee. I would consider myself a pretty easy going person who can basically get along with anyone.

Point taken. You either love him or hate him. I actually don’t like “The Office” very much and I think that has to do w/ Carell’s character portrayal.
