Olive (Emma Stone) is the average teenager who is a good student, gets a long extremely well with her parents, and seems to make all the underdogs happy. Â It all starts when she tells her best friend Rhiannon (Aly Michalka) that she went on a date with an older college guy and they had sex at the end of the night. Â This rumor makes it around the whole school, which she tries to deny, and ends up getting detention for being rude to a member of the celibacy club. Â She meets Brandon, who is gay, and is tired of getting picked on. Â He asks Olive to pretend to have sex with him a party so that everyone would think he is straight and leave him alone. Â Olive agrees, and they make a scene the next night. Â Everyone believes it, and others start to hear of Olive’s business.Guys that needed a better reputation paid Olive to let them start rumors about the two of them hooking up. Â The girls start talking and Olive becomes very popular in a bad way. Â She also learns that her reputation has been ruined, and when things start to spiral out of control, she has to figure out how to get everything back. Â Along the way, she starts to fall for Woodchuck Todd (Penn Badgley) and he is the only one who believes her and knows that what she has done helped others.
This film also stars Amanda Bynes, Cam Gigandet, and Lisa Kudrow.
I heard a lot about this film and everyone said how funny and good it was. Â I did laugh out loud quite a few times and it was very sarcastic. There are a couple references to 80s teen movies, and I would say that is my favorite part. Â Every girl fantasizes of living a life like in the movies, and meeting the perfect guy. Â If you like any high school romantic comedy, this is a must see! Â I feel that this is a perfect movie for a girls night!
