The brilliant minds at Dreamworks do it again, except this time it’s with the well known (and lovable) Ice Age characters. Dreamworks has decided to jump on the 3-D bandwagon and allow the audience to enjoy this movie while wearing funny glasses and experiencing up close interactions with these sub-zero characters. Even though this is now the third Ice Age movie to hit the theaters, Dreamworks is not merely beating a dead horse. It felt good to see these characters again, and I felt familiar with their character habits, but was excited to see what they were going to do next. I thoroughly enjoyed how the movie flowed and kept moving. The movie felt like it was made for entertainment, and not merely just for 3-D purposes.
The story line follows the well known characters, Manny and Ellie (Ray Romano and Queen Latifah), Sid (John Leguizamo), and Diego (Denis Leary), on an adventure within the Ice Age. Many new changes come about for these characters, as Manny and Ellie are expecting a new baby mammoth, Diego (the saber-tooth tiger) searches for a sense of self, and feels he is becoming too “soft”, and Sid (the prehistoric sloth) gets himself into trouble by swiping some dinosaur eggs. The main characters begin an underground prehistoric adventure by searching for their friend, Sid. The characters meet Buck (Simon Pegg), a one-eyed weasel who thrives on adventure and brings a roar of laughs, while trying to help the crew find their friend. The story takes the audience on a fun 3-D ride that is thoroughly entertaining from beginning to end.
The graphics were absolutely stunning and seemed so real, especially in 3-D experience. I could not get over how amazing the movie looked and sounded. This movie is totally appropriate for young children and definitely a movie that adults would love. The jokes were well placed, and children and adults alike will laugh and enjoy this movie together. I rated this movie a 4, due to the amazing 3-D graphics and fun story line.  I would recommend seeing this movie in 3-D if possible, but feel that this movie would be great in 2-D, as well. This movie is lots of fun and you will leave the movie theater smiling.
