Invictus

Hands down this might be one of Matt Damon‘s finest performances.  I feel like Invictus did not get as much hype as it probably should have.  This inspiring true historic movie tells the story of Nelson Mandela’s (played by Morgan Freeman) first term as South Africa’s president.  Knowing that Africa’s nation is socially, racially, and economically divided, Mandela attempts to unite his country through an unexpected outlet:  rugby.  Mandela brings in FrancoisPienaar (Matt Damon) who is captain of the South African rugby team, the Springboks.  By uniting his country through the commonality of sport, Mandela welds a country together to form a successful and proud nation.

Clint Eastwood, who directed the film,  did not skip a beat with Invictus.  The county of South Africa’s richness (colors, language, slang, racial identity, culture, ethnicity) was all truthfully and honestly put into this film.  This powerful and inspiring movie is abundant in pride and honor.  I appreciate the cleverness of this true story and is a unique account of history.  Damon and Freeman make an amazing duo and made these historical characters come alive again.  Bravo!

I am a 20-something female from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL. I am married and a proud parent of two wonderful cats, Klaus and Liza! I love playing board games & video games, reading anything, talking to people, yoga, and drinking lots and lots of coffee. I would consider myself a pretty easy going person who can basically get along with anyone.
