It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas

a-very-sunny-christmasIf you like pants-less elves, then this movie is just for you!

Charlie, Dee, Dennis, Mac, and Frank are all back in this funny Christmas special. I initially thought this “movie” was going to be movie length because that’s what I heard but I was wrong because it was only about 40 some odd minutes. So it was basically just like two episodes in one. I don’t think it’s worth paying $20 for this but I would definitely rent this for sure. It made me laugh quite a few times and was thoroughly entertaining throughout. Frank (Danny Devito) shines in this one. And when I say shine, I really mean shine because at one point he is completely naked and sweaty. Just thinking about Danny Devito naked makes me laugh. Think about it. Don’t be shy.

Mac (Rob McElhenney) and Charlie (Charlie Kelly) love Christmas but for all the wrong reasons. They share their past Christmas traditions with each other in which they thought were normal but then they realize their parents were doing it all wrong. So ultimately, Mac and Charlie set out to make everything right by trying to give back to their community. You can only imagine how that works out. All you need to know is that Charlie has beef with Santa Claus because of what happened with his mom and a bunch of Santa Claus’s when he was young. It’s also somewhat entertaining to watch Charlie attempt to play Simon Says.

Dennis and Dee hate Christmas because year after year Frank found out what they really wanted and went out and bought them for himself just to rub it in their faces. So throughout the short film, Dennis and Dee try to convince Frank to change his ways and think about the real meaning of Christmas. Towards the end of the movie, Frank has a “vision” and the film changes to a short animation skit where Frank is tortured beyond belief which is quite entertaining to say the least. It was very well done.

This short movie was just like watching the TV show but what can you expect. I would have liked it better if it was an actual movie length film but oh well, it was still a good laugh. Frank, Charlie, and Mac were definitely the funny ones in this movie. You can never get enough of them. Honestly, I don’t know what else to say except to rent this movie whenever you have the chance. Just like the TV show, this is absolutely guy/girl friendly. I would have to give this movie 3 stars because of the length and I think it could have been a lot funnier although it still had its fair share of laughs.

**P.S.** If you are a fan of the Showtime Series “Dexter” than you will recognize Dexter’s son, Cody, who plays the young version of Mac in this film and pulls it off very well with a Nintendo 64 worthy scream.
