It’s Complicated

A great adult comedy!

Jane (Meryl Streep) and Jake (Alec Baldwin) Adler are divorced.  There son is graduating college in New York, and the family takes a trip there.  Jake’s wife Agnes (Lake Bell) has to stay behind with her sick child, so Jane and Jake end up having a long night together, including lots of alcohol, dinner and dancing, which leads to a night they won’t forget.

When they get back home, Jake continues to want to see Jane and she is just confused.  Jake tries to sneak away from Agnes to see Jane as much as possible, but Agnes is also trying to have a baby with Jake which is making it more difficult.  Meanwhile, Jane is getting an addition put onto her home and meets her architect Adam (Steve Martin) and after a couple of meetings, they decide to go out on a date.  They are going to a party hosted by Jane’s oldest daugther, so Jake and Agnes will be there.  Jake is so head over heels for Jane, and his wife sees this.  Jake comes to see Jane to see if he can stay there, and all of the kids are also staying.  One thing leads to another, and their children found out about the affair, and problems just arose from there, including her new relationship with Adam.

It’s Complicated was a pretty good film.  I thought it had a lot of great humor and it was nice to watch a grown-up movie with my husband.  I really enjoyed the film and I think that most people would.  I would definitely label this film a chick flick and I would give it 3.5 stars.  You will have to watch and see who Jane picks!

I am a kindergarten teacher and everyday is something new and exciting. I am also a cheerleading coach at Benet Academy. I have a dog named Paisley and a husband named Steve. I absolutely love shopping, beaches, and anything Disney. I also like to read a lot and listen to music, especially country. My favorite genre of movies is romantic comedies, which are the ideal chick flicks!

  • i thought this film was missing something–like perhaps more laughs. i didn’t feel emotionally connected to any character here. nothing as gripping as something’s gotta give, which i thought was a far better film.

  • I loved it! Meryl Streep was fab (as always) and John Krasinski was hilarious. AND she has the most amazing vegetable patch! (Watch it, you’ll see what I mean!). It was good to see Steve Martin playing a different role too. I would definitely recommen it.
