Jennifer’s Body

JennifersBodyJennifer (Megan Fox) is the bitch epitome of a popular high school head cheerleader in Devil’s Kettle, Minnesota. She has the whole male species under her pristine manipulative sex appeal enchantment. Girls envy her and guys want her. She gets what she wants, when she wants and still finds it amusing to play hard to get.

For some odd reason, she still has one loyal friend, studious bookworm Needy (Amanda Seyfriend). BFF’s (pronounced biffs) since childhood they have an “opposites attract” kind of friendship. Jennifer’s overbearing persona has forced Needy to always take the backseat. Needy constantly had to play the ugly Barbie and the guy in “house” and when they go out in public Needy is forced to dress conservatively so Jennifer appears as the teen hottie.

Jennifer convinces Needy to ditch her boyfriend and go to a Low Shoulder concert at the local bar. Jennifer immediately starts flaunting herself in her manipulative way to get the lead singer’s (Adam Brody) attention. Boy, does this backfire. For some reason, Low Shoulder thinks that in order to make it as a successful indie band, they need to worship satan and sacrifice a virgin in a satanic ritual. Somehow they end up with Jennifer as their sacrifice. When something goes wrong Jennifer ends up possessed by a boy killing, flesh eating demon and starts a massacre in Devil’s Kettle.

jennifersbodyNeedy knows something is wrong when more boys start dying and Jennifer starts throwing up black junk and acting even more heartless than before. When Jennifer insinuates that she wants Needy’s boyfriend Chip (Johnny Simmons) Needy does some research and takes actions into her own hands.

I really loved Juno, but I don’t think Jennifer’s Body lived up to my expectations for writer Diablo Cody. I couldn’t tell if the film was supposed to be funny or scary. I felt like I was laughing more than I was scared. Also, some of the scenes seemed a bit fake-y and completely unrealistic which was a major problem for me. If you want a film like this to be somewhat believable (even though it’s not at all) please don’t throw a random run down pool on top of a creepy poor lit hill as the main climactic scene.

MeganFoxJennifersBodyI know I shouldn’t judge what the tabloids say about Megan Fox, but I really did not like her before this film. However, I think she played an evil teen psycho possessed by a satanic demon very well. She had the whole high school bitch role perfected. The teenage lingo that Diablo Cody inflicted in this film is superb. Who would think to have biffs nicknaming each other Monostat and Vagisil or calling sexy boys “salty?” Not me!

I absolutely adore Amanda Seyfried and thought this was a fun ass-kicking role for her to play. Her character is nerdy, strong and determined while Adam Brody’s lead singer role was kind of lame, but I will forgive him.

Jennifer’s Body is kind of like Mean Girls with only one mean girl that is possessed by a demon that thrives on flesh. It actually has a few twists in the end making it a bit more interesting than expected. Guys will enjoy this film for the Megan Fox sexy factor with a bonus of a girl on girl slumber party kissing scene. Girls will enjoy the mean girl drama but will probably have to cover their eyes during the flesh eating scenes (I did!).

i don’t know why people worship satin, corduroy is clearly the dominant overlord of the fabric kingdom

Not only that, but I’m sure if you sacrificed a virgin to corduroy the blood would clean off a lot easier.
