The main character is a writer who has received the first payment for his manuscript, but hasn’t yet actually made good on writing it. His editor hates him, to put it politely. He’s tried to leave drinking and drugging behind, but out of the blue someone offers him a pill they say will help him finish his book.
He takes it and it’s true, he does finish his book. He also does a million other things, from clean his house to change his landlady’s heart from kicking him out to instead having sex with him. That’s some pill.
Unfortunately, as you might have guessed, there’s a sliiiiight downside. Um, basically you die a horrible death. So…the rest of the movie is divided between him going on and off the drug and seeing the results on his financial and social life and the problems it’s created in others’ lives.
I really enjoyed this movie and thought the action was non stop, but the good friend who I lent the movie to the next day thought it was pretty boring and didn’t make sense. So, that’s a pretty divided reaction there. Check it out yourself and see what you think.
