In this drama/romance a widower named Burke Ryan (Aaron Eckhart) is on a business trip in Seattle doing a week-long seminar in partnership with his book A-Okay!, both addressing the topic of how to cope with the loss of a loved one.  At his hotel, Burke runs into an attractive woman named Eloise (Jennifer Aniston) in the hallway.  After sassily turning him down a few times and giving him a run for his money, Eloise finally agrees to a dinner date with Mr. Ryan when he gets creative with his approach to her.  The two begin getting to know each other, and in the process uncover a few skeletons that Burke has hiding in his closet – something that’s been working against him while he tries to coach thousands of others through the grieving process.  Eloise selflessly offers her friendship and support, but their relationship hits a speed bump when Burke perceives her attempts to help as pushy and out of line.
No good story ends there, but you’ll just have to haul booty to Blockbuster when Love Happens is released on DVD to find out the end. Â Yes, I said to Blockbuster and not to the theater. Â Yes, that was probably disappointing to read. Â Yes, I am sorry, but I cannot lie to your beautiful faces! Â With movies being as costly as they are nowadays and while I enjoyed this film thoroughly, it’s just not the kind of movie that I would advise the masses to go spend
$10 on.  I will, however, reiterate that when it’s released on DVD and you need a good night of chick flicks to ball your eyes out to, Love Happens is a great one to begin with.  It has its awkward moments, its funny moments, its “aaaaaawwwwwwww” moments, and its *sniffle snififle* “waaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh” moments – all the bits and pieces a good chick flick is made of.
Unfortunately, Love Happens also has its downfalls.  There are a few times when you’ll wonder if you blinked and missed something because somehow, in two consecutive scenes, the relationship between Burke and Eloise has changed rather drastically – and you were never shown how.  Also, the first half of the film is pretty slow-paced but the second half is an emotional live wire.  You could probably hit the restrooms during the first half and return without having to ask a friend what you’ve missed.  Make sure you’re there for the second half though, you will want to know how things turn out!
Oh, and unless your man is particularly sensitive – save this one for ladies’ night.  He’ll thank you for it  ;o)

Great review! I can say that 9 times out of 10 a Jennifer Aniston flick just does not do it for me. I want to see her in a role where she is is the bad guy, she murders someone, or she’s in the mob or something. I am sick of her being in chick flicks!! Loved the review!
Amen. She definitely needs to branch out into another genre. Also, it’s still weird to see her kiss someone that’s not Ross Gellar.
