Abby

Hi! I’m Abby. I’m 28 years old living my single life in my west suburb apartment. My newest friend is my cat, named “Cat” (Thank you Holly Golightly!) who loves to snuggle with me. I’m a sonographer in the medical field, working both in Naperville and in a leading Chicago hospital. I’m very much a “girly girl.” I love chocolate, peanut butter, a good cry, and anything pink (plus polka-dots are a bonus!) I absolutely love movies and going to the show with junior mints and a soda. From the usual romantic comedy to a great drama to the sappy made-for-TV movies that I’ll watch on the Hallmark channel all day on a random Sunday. I’m a huge fan of any movie with dancing, singing, and cheerleading. I especially love the classic old movies…anything with Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, Bing Crosby, etc. Some of my all-time favorites include Singin’ in the Rain, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Love Actually, The Cutting Edge, Pretty Woman, Steel Magnolias, Serendipity, Dirty Dancing, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and Up Close and Personal. Which actress would play me in my life movie?….Sandra Bullock, of course!!!

Brianna

Hello :) My name is Brianna! I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in May 2008 and I am currently a Communications Manager for a non-profit association. I'm 23, I LOVE animals, vegetarianism, MOVIES, music, reading, running, yoga, my fiance Joshua, and my two crazy kitties, Chester and Cinderella [aka Chesterella - the "Brangelina" of kitties].

Personally, I like chick flicks! I'm not crazily obsessed but I have been known to watch my fair share of girly movies :) My favorite movies include: 10 Things I Hate About You, Almost Famous, Edward Scissorhands, Goonies, Harry Potter(s), Home Alone 1 & 2, Juno, A Little Princess, Little Women, Mean Girls, The Mighty Ducks (all), Now and Then, and That Thing You Do.

Candice

Hi Everyone! My name is Candice and I am a busy girl! I just turned 25 and moved into my own home in Lockport, IL. I am a kindergarten teacher and everyday is something new and exciting. I am also a cheerleading coach at Benet Academy. I have cheered for most of my life, and coaching a sport that I love so much has been very rewarding. I have a puppy named Paisley who is just adorable and crazy at the same time! I also have a boyfriend of about 4 years named Steve Kerr, (And yes, he shoots three pointers!), whom I love very much. I absolutely love shopping and spend most of my hard earned money on clothes, purses, shoes, and accessories! Disney World is one of my favorite places in the whole world! I love the beach and my house is covered with pictures from the ocean, shells, flip flops and anything beachy and summery! I constantly have my nose stuck in book and its usually a teenage novel with a lot of drama. I also love music and movies!

When I first found out about the site I was so excited because I do see a lot of chick flicks and its nice to get a woman's point of view on movies for a change. A couple of my favorite actresses are Kate Hudson, Julia Roberts and Sandra Bullock. And some of my favorite actors are Jim Carrey and Will Ferrell. I love to laugh when I watch movies, so I would prefer to see a comedy. I am very excited to share some of my views with all of you!

Some of my favorite movies include: Bed of Roses, The Breakfast Club, Bride Wars, Centerstage, Dirty Dancing, Fever Pitch, Harry Potter, Legally Blonde, Liar Liar, National Treasure (1 & 2), The Notebook, The Sandlot, Stranger than Fiction, Sweet Home Alabama, Transformers, Tommy Boy, Twilight, Without a Paddle and almost every Disney movie made!

Catherine

Hi! I'm Cat. I currently live with my husband, Kyle, and my dog-like cat, Mazzy in the Northwest Chicago Suburbs, but am originally from the cornfields of Illinois. I am the Marketing Coordinator at a growing Property Management company which basically means I put ads up on Craig's List every day. I'm really into antiquing, cooking, baking, cleaning, and anything else domestic, as well as writing and all sorts of art. I'm very picky with movies. It has to have a certain artistic feel to it for me to personally enjoy it, or at least get to click with it...I'm also really picky about different breeds of humor. Basically I'm just picky! My favorite movies include: The Virgin Suicides, Big Fish, Lost in Translation, A Christmas Story, Almost Famous, American Beauty, Forrest Gump, Edward Scissorhands, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Fried Green Tomatoes, Ghost World...the list goes on (and yes, I did just look at my rated Netflix account!). I'm really into period pieces (Changeling, Public Enemies...) and anything with a great artistic vision (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, the Science of Sleep [notice a Michel Gondry trend?]). I'm definitely looking forward to watching new movies and essentially ripping them to shreds! :)

Christine

I am a 24 year old female from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL. I married my new husband, Jake, in November of 2008 and we are the proud parents of two wonderful cats, Klause and Liza! I love playing board games & video games, reading anything, talking to people, yoga, and drinking lots and lots of coffee. I would consider myself a pretty easy going person who can basically get along with anyone.

I will be completely honest....I don't really enjoy watching chick flicks at all. When I was asked to be a reviewer, I made it clear that I would prefer to watch dramas, comedies, and action movies. So, hopefully I can bring some diversity to the site!

Some of my favorites movies are: A League of Their Own, The Sandlot, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, X-Men, Drop Dead Gorgeous, The Birdcage, Man on Fire, Grease, Dodgeball, Zoolander, Charlotte's Web, The Little Mermaid, 300, Spiderman, Watchmen, Batman, American Gangster, Milk, The Wrestler, The Hangover, & Up.

Jen

Hello! I’m Jen, and I am the mother of the bunch who tends to stay very busy. I currently work in the Finance Department of a major company and am currently working to finish my Business Management Degree. My biggest motivation is my son Dominick who keeps me on my toes. I love to spend time with my son and the people that are the closest to me. I enjoy spending time outdoors, experiencing new and different things, and seeing new places. When I’m not driving my son to Soccer or T-Ball practice and building with LEGOS, I enjoy watching movies with Dominick, while eating popcorn w/ M&Ms….(the M&Ms get so mmm-melty), my lounge-teddy bear boyfriend Ben….and how I can forget….my gerbil “Morty” looking kitty, Smoky. When I’m not watching Indiana Jones, Star Wars, James Bond 007, and zombie movies …I always try to squeeze in a good chick flick.

The truth is, I love different types of movies, with the exception of zombie films. I love any movie that is witty, hilarious, sentimental, and close to the heart….and I’m not embarrassed to shed tears to a good movie by any means. Some of my favorite include: Serendipity, Failure to Launch, In Her Shoes, Because I Said So, The Holiday, Catch and Release, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Wicker Park, UP, Wall-E, Wanted, The Hangover.

Jenna

Last May, I graduated college with a degree in English and no idea what I wanted to do with my life. After two unpaid internships and nearly a year of working at Borders on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, I am packing my bags and heading to the suburbs... to work at yet a different Borders (I'll figure my life out someday, I promise).

I mostly spend my time reading, listening to music, watching movies, making art, wasting time online, eating/cooking delicious cruelty-free meals, hanging out with a curly haired boy (see below), and dreaming of the day when my life has settled enough to adopt a pug (or two).

I’m a self-proclaimed chick flick skeptic, but I believe there is something to take from everything (with the exception of any movie Nicholas Cage does, as I consider him to be the Nickelback of film). I think Bill Murray is always funny and Will Ferrell is never funny. I appreciate strong female characters, witty dialogue, large but subtle social messages, and anything that exercises my brain.

Favorite Movies: 2 Days in Paris, 500 Days of Summer, Amelie, Away We Go, Elizabethtown, Garden State, Little Miss Sunshine, Love Actually, Me and You and Everyone We Know, The Science of Sleep, Secret Garden, That Thing You Do, Up, Waking Life, Wall-E.

Maribeth

I was born in PA, raised in NY and now live just outside St. Louis. I'm a 25-year-old newlywed and a Personal Trainer by profession, even though I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Business. If you're within earshot, you'll probably hear me singing. I appreciate the simple things in life - clean sheets, hot chocolate, a sincere hug, bubble gum, a good friend. I value old-school, traditional things like family meal time/devotions, decorating the Christmas tree with homemade ornaments, and showing people you care by spending time with them and listening rather than talking. I love the '80's and I also love to buy people gifts!

I am an avid moviegoer in general, but chick flicks have always held a special place in my heart. My favorites include The Wedding Planner, 13 Going On 30, The Holiday, What Women Want, The Notebook, The Devil Wears Prada, and 50 First Dates.

Other favorite movies include the Pirates trilogy, The Sandlot, The Goonies, Rudy, Home Alone, I Love You Man, Transformers, X-Men, The Count of Monte Cristo, Benchwarmers, Hook, Field of Dreams, Daredevil, Honey I Shrunk the Kids, and just about anything Disney/Pixar/animated.

Bryan

My name is Bryan and out of the other guys on our staff, I have probably seen the most chick flicks. I'm a 23 year old Star Wars loving, music obsessing, vegan drummer born and raised in IL. I work for a company maintaining and building websites for doctors and try to squeeze as much out of everyday as possible. I currently reside in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago but have no reservations about moving to new places. I like reading, music, movies, being outside and Josh. (Jenna too!) As far as my favorite movies go, here's a short list: Star Wars, That Thing You Do!, the Sandlot, Wayne's World (1& 2), Home Alone (1&2), Lord of the Rings Trilogy, Little Miss Sunshine, Garden State, High Fidelity, Good Will Hunting, Say Anything, Can't Hardly Wait, Almost Famous and Toy Story. There's a million but this should give you a good idea.

Jake

Hello, my name is Jake and I take care of this good looking site for chick flicks. I'm from rural Illinois and have recently got married and moved to the Chicago suburbs because of my job as a Senior Web Developer at a Chicago based Web Design firm. I spend most of the day buried in a computer, though I don't always like to. I enjoy comedy and horror flicks, video games, Arnold Palmers, comic books, Sam's Pizza in Marseilles, IL (only the Marseilles one, anywhere else isn't as good [815.795.5755]), root beer, my Scion xD, drumming, and cats. We have two, they're named Klaus Mantooth and Liza Minnelli (aka Lucille 2).

Some of my favorite movies are: The Big Lebowski, Beetlejuice, The Santa Clause, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic, The Goonies, Vegas Vacation, The Original Star Wars Trilogy, Ghostbusters, Serenity, and Eternal Sunshine for the Spotless Mind.

Some of my favorite chick flicks are: Mean Girls, Spider-Man (he says right in the beginning it's a love story!), Pride & Prejudice, Groundhog Day, When Harry Met Sally, and Serendipity. Does The Terminator count? That's got a pretty heavy love story in it.

Josh

Hello all, I'm Josh. I currently reside in Chicago, IL where I am a senior at Columbia College. My major is Audio Arts and Acoustics with a concentration in Audio Design and Production. I hope to one day design audio for commercials and such. I think having a job like that would be my ultimate goal. I'm 22 years of age and I will be getting married to my high school sweetheart in September of 2010. I am an animal lover and own two wonderful cats and one beautifully barrel shaped dog. I normally sleep on my stomach with my hands tucked underneath. I can't sit in Indian style cause it hurts too bad. I think it's really funny when people fall down stairs or just fall in general. I recently started wearing a Chicago Cubs hat even though I know I look ridiculous in it. I have a butt thumb (when i extend my thumb, the knuckle looks like a small butt). I was recently abducted into the gaming world thanks to my brother and I love him for it. This is the perfect opportunity for a shout out... Bri, I LOVE PLAYING XBOX! Also... I'm a big fan of Tim Allen In regards to chick flicks, I consider myself a secret chick flick lover. Every guy needs a good chick flick every now and again. If I had to name my favorite chick flick right now, it would have to be "Mean Girls" I don't know what it is about that movie that I find intriguing but the fact that their is a character by the name of Gretchen Wieners makes the movie a selling point for me. It's the one liners like "four for Glenn Coco, you go Glen Coco." It's hilarious right? It may just be me but whatever, I like what I like. I'm also a big fan of poop scenes. Yep, that's right, any movie with a poop scene in it is a winner in my book. I will most likely love a chick flick if it is a comedic one as well. I also find myself getting sucked into watching lifetime movies. Don't judge me! Don't rule me out when it comes to sappy chick flicks either because I will most likely enjoy that movie as much as the next girl.

Favorite Chick Flicks (I'm probably missing quite a few): Mean Girls, The Notebook, The Last Kiss, Dawn of the Dead, Hairspray, August Rush, The House Bunny, Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, 10 Things I Hate About You, Juno, 27 Dresses, and Enchanted.

Favorite Chick TV Shows: What I Like About You, Gilmore Girls, Gossip Girl

Josh's Favorite Things (just like Oprah): Poop Scenes
