Morning Glory

Becky Fuller’s (Rachel McAdams) dream has been to run a news show.  She has been working for Good Morning New Jersey, when she gets fired because of cut backs.  She bounces right back and lands a job as an executive producer for Daybreak.  She jumps right in and takes control, firing the male anchorman.  She hires Mike Pomeroy (Harrison Ford) for the show, but he has many demands, as he has won so many awards in his time.  His co-host, Colleen Peck (Diane Keaton) is just as stubborn as Mike and they but heads along the way.  Mike is a big problem and does not agree with anything the station is doing, as well as has a negative comment for everything.  Along the way, Becky meets Adam (Patrick Wilson) at the station, and he asks her to get something to eat sometime, but she does not really know how to act around guys that are interested in her.  Adam finds that cute about her, and they start to fall for each other.

Meanwhile, the show is drowning, and Mike’s attitude is not helping it.  The show is on its way to being cancelled, and they are blaming Becky for it.  She was supposed to come in and bring the show’s rating up and she has not been able to do that.  She decides to take matters in her own hands, and does some crazy things to try and get the ratings up like having the weather man ride the brand new roller coaster they are talking about on the show, having 50 cent perform, and sumo wrestling, just to name a few.  While Becky is finding higher ratings, Mike will still not participate in any of these extra stories on the show.  Once he finds out the show may be cancelled, be does something drastic to try and save the show, which works.  Because of this, Becky gets asked to work on the Today Show, but she does not know whether she wants to leave DayBreak or not.

I enjoy Rachel McAdams but I was not impressed with this film.  I was actually really bored.  The whole movie was about how to save this morning show, and I was just not interested.  There was not a lot of romance or comedy for this movie labeled romantic comedy.  If I did not have to write a review on it, I would have turned it off.  Do not waste your money on this rental.

I am a kindergarten teacher and everyday is something new and exciting. I am also a cheerleading coach at Benet Academy. I have a dog named Paisley and a husband named Steve. I absolutely love shopping, beaches, and anything Disney. I also like to read a lot and listen to music, especially country. My favorite genre of movies is romantic comedies, which are the ideal chick flicks!

  • It’s too bad, I miss seeing Harrison Ford in movies and I usually like Rachel McAdams and Patrick Wilson.

    • I agree. I was actually hoping this movie would be decent.

  • ouch .maybe i should take this out of my queue. but the fact that the romance is minimal is somehow drawing me in….:)

Actually this was the first chick flicky movie that I went to see with my boyfriend where he didn’t fall asleep or leave the theatre grumpy! It’s probably because the movie focused more on her career and the idiosyncrasies of her news team rather than the cliche love story. I think you guys should give it a shot!
