my-sisters-keeper-poster-560x827If you are in the mood for a long, hard cry, this is the movie for you.  For someone who has lost someone due to cancer or other diseases, I don’t know if you would enjoy this movie.

My Sister’s Keeper is a movie (based on the book written by Jodi Piccolt) about the a family who has done everything to save the life of their sister and daughter who is fighting leukemia.  Anna Fitzgerald (Abigail Breslin) is an 11-year old who was born to help save he sister Kate (Sofia Vassilieva).  As a little sister, she had a lot of responsibilities to take care of Kate, whether it was helping her wipe up blood, or donating bone marrow.  Anna goes to see famous attorney Campbell Alexander (Alec Baldwin) to become medically emancipated from her parents.  Their mother, Sara (Cameron Diaz) has done everything in her power to keep Anna alive no matter what.  She fights for her life throughout the entire film.  She does not want to give up her body parts any longer.  The movie goes back and forth between many flashbacks, and the whole story falls into place.  We get to see the life of Kate and how her cancer progressed, as well as how she grew up into a women.  We see her through the happiest and worst times of her entire life.My-Sisters-Keeper-12

I don’t think I that I ever cried throughout a movie as much as I cried in this film.  Everything about the movie is just so sad, especially when you know it is a child dying.  I was very uncomfortable and sad throughout the entire movie.  I have never had anyone close to me die of cancer, and I could never image going through life the way that this family had to.  Of course there are happy moments in the film, but those make you cry tears of happiness.  Seeing the life of a cancer patient and her family was very eye opening.  For those of you that like to hang on to find out all the details until the end, and enjoy medical movies, the this is a must-see for you.

I am a kindergarten teacher and everyday is something new and exciting. I am also a cheerleading coach at Benet Academy. I have a dog named Paisley and a husband named Steve. I absolutely love shopping, beaches, and anything Disney. I also like to read a lot and listen to music, especially country. My favorite genre of movies is romantic comedies, which are the ideal chick flicks!

I wanted to see this movie so bad! I have no idea why I never got around to it. My mom saw it and she said she was bawling the entire movie. She said she loved it, though. I’ve GOT to add this to Netflix!
