Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist

Nick & Norah's Infinate PlaylistNick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist begins and ends all in one crazy night.  We meet Nick (Michael Cera) who is moping over the breakup of his high school girlfriend, Tris (Alexia Dziena).  His bandmates force him out of his house and they begin a night full of adventure. After playing a show in the city Nick runs into Norah (Kat Dennings) who awkwardly asks him to be her boyfriend for a few minutes.  After a night of searching for Norah’s drunk friend (Caroline), visiting a drag club, running into old boyfriends, and crashing cars, Nick and Norah finally realize their destiny:  each other.

OK, this was a cute movie and all, however, my enjoyment was  distorted by the actors.  Michael Cera and Kat Dennings are SUPER actors, however, are obviously not in high school and the whole aura of the movie was not believable for a bunch of high school students.  This movie would have been more believable if the characters were written to be like they were in their mid twenties, and not a bunch of love-sick high schoolers.  I can sum up the plot in a few words:  boy meets girl, girl meets boy, boy and girl fall in “love.”  Am i being too harsh?  To say the least, it was a bit predictable from the very beginning of how this movie would end.

There were some funny one liners and the character of Caroline and the bandmates was pretty amusing.  I can say I laughed out loud a few times.  All in all, I give this movie 3 stars.  It’s worth watching, you’ll get a laugh or two out of it.
