Before I give a synopsis, you need to know 2 things:
1) This is not a thriller. Thanks for the misinformation, Redbox.
2) There is so much going on in this film that I can’t even begin to touch on everything.
Ashton Kutcher plays Walter, a 24-year-old wrestler competing for a spot on the national team when he learns of his twin sister’s brutal murder. He comes home, picks up a nothing job, helps his mom raise his niece and attends the trial of his sister’s accused murderer. At the support group he goes to with his mom (Kathy Bates), he meets Linda (Michelle Pfeiffer). Linda is a widow/newly single mother of her deaf teenage son, Clay. Between support group meetings and courthouse encounters, Walter and Linda develop a liking toward one another when Linda invites Walter to a wedding she’s coordinated at the Southside Community Center where she works.
Drama upon drama upon drama; that’s what you’ll see in this film. Between grief and empty conversation, this movie is painful to watch… not painfully bad, just heart-wrenchingly painful. It addresses heavy issues in a very real way. If you’re feeling particularly sensitive, I recommend holding off for a night when your skin’s a little thicker. When that night comes around, definitely pop this in. It’ll leave you contemplating the things that are really important in life. And you’ll probably want to call your mom just to say, “I love you.”
p.s. Happy Halloween! Hope your night is much scaaaarrrrrier than this movie ;o) =)

I almost added this to our Netflix but then I didn’t, cause I thought this looked stupid. BUT-your review has convinced me otherwise. It better be a good one…I’m counting on you!
