Post GradCould the timing be anymore perfect for Post Grad? The economy is still in a slump and unemployment rates are still at an all-time high. All of my friends have graduated college and are struggling to find “real” jobs while some (myself included) are still figuring out what they really want to do with their lives.

Ryden Malby (Alexis Bledel) had her life planned out (how very Rory Gilmore of her). She got good grades in high school, scored a scholarship, graduated college and landed an interview for her dream job. Not to mention, Ryden has a very cute best friend, Adam (Zach Gilford), who just so happens to be in love with her yet, she is completely oblivious to the obvious.

A series of unfortunate events take place on the day of Ryden’s big interview including an awkwardly short-lived meeting with the company rep. On her way out her all-time academic rival (Paris Geller of the film), Jessica Bard (Catherine Reitman), comes strolling in striking up a lively conversation with the interviewer about how she was recommended by her school’s dean for the position. Failing to land her ideal job, Ryden is immediately thrown off of her life plan and everything comes crashing down.

Ryden moves back in with her crazy (yet awesome) family, wrecks her car and is forced to ride her vintagely sweet pink banana seat bike as she struggles through a job search, best friend/boyfriend drama and much more!

PostGrad FamIf you were missing Rory Gilmore this is the movie for you! The only thing missing is Lorelai, Luke and Lane. However, Jane Lynch, Michael Keaton, and Carol Burnett definitely make up for it as Ryden’s crazy parents and grandmother. Her dad is a struggling Mr. fix-it cat-murdering belt buckle thieving entrepreneur with a sassy luggage store while her mom is awesomely fun loving (with definite Jane Lynch humor). Grandma Maureen (Burnett) has a rotating medicine cabinet and thinks she is on the verge of dying and is not afraid to let people know as she uses it as a frequent excuse.

If you are in search of a fun chick flick then go see Post Grad! It is an enjoyable (guy friendly!)  flick and a great chance to escape reality and see someone else’s humorous struggles. You might also want to see this if you are in search of dos and don’ts for interviews as there are plenty of examples! The film does have the typical chick flick love story but with everything else going on in the film it’s easy to bypass the cliché. I found the film very amusing and entertaining for it is filled with an unusual amount of realistic humor that most chick flicks fail to provide. I strongly advise you to check out Post Grad!

Hello :) My name is Brianna! I graduated from Columbia College Chicago in May 2008 and I am currently attending Roosevelt University to get my Master's in Elementary Education (YAY! KIDS!). I'm 23, I LOVE animals, vegetarianism, MOVIES, music, reading, running, yoga, my fiance Joshua, and my two crazy kitties, Chester and Cinderella [aka Chesterella - the "Brangelina" of kitties]. Personally, I like chick flicks! I'm not crazily obsessed but I have been known to watch my fair share of girly movies :) My favorite movies include: 10 Things I Hate About You, 500 Days of Summer, Almost Famous, Edward Scissorhands, Goonies, Harry Potter(s), Home Alone 1 & 2, Juno, A Little Princess, Little Women, Mean Girls, The Mighty Ducks (all), Now and Then, and That Thing You Do.
