New to Blu-Ray and DVD: Tuesday, December 8!
One of the only reasons I went to see this movie is because there were scenes shot in my hometown, Lockport, IL. Â I must say that it is pretty cool to see where you grew up in such a big film!
Public Enemies stars Johnny Depp as John Dillinger, one of America’s most famous and notorious gangsters. Â This film takes place in the 30s, which was the height of crime in our country, in Chicago. Â Dillinger loves being a criminal, and could not be happier with his chosen profession. Â He is a hero to many, as well as a villian to others. Dillinger meets his love early in the movie, Billie Frechette (Marion Cotillard), a coat check girl. Â No matter where John is , he always seems to meet up with Billie somehow. Â Â Melvin Purvis, FBI agent, (Christian Bale) will do anything in his power to catch Dillinger. Â There are several attempts to catch him, but Dillinger has so many men working with him, it is very hard to find where John is. Â The movie continues with many gun shooting scenes, including the opening fight, in the Joliet Prison, and big gun shot scene right in the heart of downtown Lockport, IL. Â There is also a lot of blood and death to the other criminals that are working for John. Â Purvis finds out that Dillinger has a soft spot for his sweetheart Billie, and uses her as bait to get Dillinger into his hands. Â The suspense of this movie just gets deeper and deeper!
This film has a lot of action and a lot of plot to the story line. Â I was also very sad at the end of the movie, and was not expecting it to end the way that it did. Â I personally thought that the movie was very long, even with the exciting gun shot scenes. Â I did enjoy watching Johnny Depp in my hometown, but this wasn’t really my kind of movie. Â If you like gangsters, the 1930s in America, and lots of gun shooting this movie is made for you.
P.S. Â The picture below was the crime scene that took place right in front of one of the banks in Lockport, IL!

ah, I was disappointed in this movie, but thought Marion Cotillard and Johnny Depp were great in it, but i think it was simply poorly written.
I haven’t seen it, but I was a bit worried about a weak story. Sometimes I feel like studios think if they put enough big names and pretty faces in something, everyone will see it regardless (which is unfortunately usually the case).
I wanted to see this one-but never got the will to actually do so. I didn’t know the history behind the movie! Thanks for the facts!
