Retro Review-Mrs. Doubtfire

A laugh out loud family comedy!

Daniel (Robin Williams) and Miranda (Sally Field) are having marriage problems, and Miranda decides she wants a divorce.  Daniel just falls into pieces when she receives custody of the children and he can only see them once a week.  Daniel tries to get his life together by getting an apartment and a job, but he is just not taking this very well.  On his first visit with the kids, Miranda comes up to get them and announces that she needs to put an ad in the paper for a housekeeper and nanny.  Daniel begs her to let him do it so he can spend more time with the children, and Miranda just does not want any of it.  Daniel takes the add and changes the number, leaving only himself to interview for the position and to become Mrs. Euphegenia Doubtfire (Robin Williams).  Daniel visits his brother for a costume for this housekeeper, and after he nails the interview, he is in!  He had a rough start with the children, cooking and cleaning, but after a while, things start to click and everyone becomes pretty happy, including Miranda who starts seeing a co-worker named Stuart Dunmeyer (Pierce Brosnan).  The family loves Mrs. Doubtfire’s company until one day when Chris (Matthew Lawrence) and Lydia (Lisa Jakob) find out that Mrs. Doubtfire is none other than their father.  They keep it a secret from everyone and continue living their life.  Daniel’s life is really becoming a success holding a job at a television station and scoring a big meeting with the company’s owner.  He then gets himself stuck into a double dinner at the same restaurant; one as Mrs. Doubtfire  with his family and the other as himself trying to get a promotion in his career.  As you guessed it, things go a little haywire and the true Mrs. Doubtfire is revealed!

Mrs. Doubtfire is without a doubt one of my favorite movies!  It was one of my favorites growing up, and watching it as an adult, it really is even more funny!  I think it is great for a family movie night and will really get everyone laughing!  Robin Williams, of course, is his humorous self and really just adds a comedic flair  for a serious film about a family in the middle of a divorce.  I hope that you enjoy this film as much as I do!

I am a kindergarten teacher and everyday is something new and exciting. I am also a cheerleading coach at Benet Academy. I have a dog named Paisley and a husband named Steve. I absolutely love shopping, beaches, and anything Disney. I also like to read a lot and listen to music, especially country. My favorite genre of movies is romantic comedies, which are the ideal chick flicks!
