Retro Review – To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar

I have lost count of how many times I have seen this movie!  Odd title aside, To Wong F00 is completely priceless!  This unique story is crammed with hysterical one-liners, unorthodox characters, and a memorable story line.  You’ll never see a movie like this one!  This is one of my top faves!

Drag queens, Noxeema and Vida, (Wesley Snipes and Patrick Swayze accordingly) have both tied for a major drag queen contest in New York City and both won free tickets to Los Angeles, California.  While in their victory, they stumble upon a sad “drag princess, ” Chi-Chi (John Leguizamo).  The two decide to adopt this sad drag sister and invite her in their beat up Cadillac and let the road trip experience to L.A. begins!  Along the way, their car breaks down and they are forced to stay in a small country town.  The three take the village on an over haul, and bring a little New York life to the town folk!  The trio experience lessons learned about life, love, and friendship, and most importantly, to embrace the drag diva inside of them!

I forgot how much I adore this film!  Seeing these great actors playing radical roles is hysterical!  To Wong Foo dates back to 1995 (if you think back that far!), but makes no difference to me.  The story is timeless and lots of fun.  Did I mention special guest appearance by the gorgeous RuPaul and marvelous Robin Williams?  My favorite part of this movie is the sneaky one-liners that are cunningly added to the story and truly make these drag divas come to life.  This is a feel good comedy film that is completely hysterical and one that you’ll love!

I am a 20-something female from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL. I am married and a proud parent of two wonderful cats, Klaus and Liza! I love playing board games & video games, reading anything, talking to people, yoga, and drinking lots and lots of coffee. I would consider myself a pretty easy going person who can basically get along with anyone.
