Ok, so two years have gone by for each of our beloved Sex and the City characters and the honeymoon is officially over. Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Big (Chris Noth) have fallen into the same ol’ routine. Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) is having problems at work and is struggling to balance her career aspirations with being a mom. Charlotte’s (Kristin Davis) youngest has the terrible twos and won’t stop crying. As for Samantha (Kim Cattrall), well, she’s dealing with menopause. In the meantime, Smith Jerrod (Jason Lewis), Samantha’s former flame, has become a huge movie star and credits Samantha with his success. Smith invites the ladies to his latest movie premiere and it just so happens that the producers of his movie own a hotel in Abu Dhabi. They suggest that Samantha visit the hotel to see if she would be interested in promoting it. Out of that conversation comes an all-expenses-paid trip for the fabulous foursome, which is exactly what these ladies need.
There are some funny moments in this movie that are truly classic SATC, but overall it was a dud. It was completely predictable. They even resorted to doing yet another parody of a song that has been run into the ground and that even Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel used. Also, they went a little too far with the Western vs. Eastern cultural jokes. All in all it was a lazy effort and the studio just threw something together in the hopes of making as much money as they did the first time around. If you’re one of those people who just has to see something for yourself to decide I highly recommend waiting until it’s available on DVD or cable.

i think most films like this are completely predictable, but this sequel wasn’t as good as the first. it was missing the fellas, the drama, and oh…NEW YORK CITY! but fun nonetheless.
Nice review! All the reviews and people I’ve talked to agree with your synopsis for this movie. I heard it was too long, predictable, and a complete bore. Too bad, I know a lot of women were looking forward to this movie. Thanks for the review!
