She’s Out of My League is an incredibly weak romantic comedy. I say weak because I think it could have been executed A LOT better. The main story focuses around the ever so trendy innocent geeky boy, Kirk (Jay Baruchel). Of course Kirk suffered a horribly bad breakup from a trashy girl named Marnie (Lindsay Sloane), and can’t seem to let her go. Thus, the dating problems ensue.
Kirk and his group of friends work at an airport and a super pretty girl, classified as a “10,†comes through his security line. Shockingly, she forgets her iPhone in the security bin. When she calls it, Kirk answers. She tells him to hang on to her phone and to meet up with her the next night to get it back.
Molly (Alice Eve) continues to ask Kirk out on more dates. The two really hit it off but Kirk’s friends give him a hard time because she is way out of his league and they think that she isn’t sincerely interested in Kirk. Thus, dramatically awkward events continue to occur.
She’s Out of My League involves some tag team manscaping, a brother slapshot contest in the basement, and many overly awkward family situations.
The movie started off overly corny. The acting was the least sincere that I’ve witnessed in a long time which is a major problem, especially since it’s in the beginning of the film. However, I continued to watch and hope it would transition into something more. She’s Out of My League did have its funny parts and the acting progressively got better but it’s just a basic romantic comedy illustrating awkward events. I’m pretty sure we’ve seen this situation all too many times before.
Additionally, She’s Out of My League might challenge your math skills, as they tend to classify people on a one to ten number system, which is kind of really annoying.
Regardless, I wouldn’t recommend you waste money seeing this in the theater. Wait for its television release, seriously, it’s not really worth renting either.

Ehh…no desire to see this one. Sorry you were stuck seeing it!
Man I don’t know what movie the previous commenter saw, but SOOML had both my wife and I laughing from the very beginning. The whole theater was lit up with laughter. I don’t know much about “execution” when it comes to creating a good comedy, but the punch lines sure hit hard. If you enjoyed “There’s Something About Mary” you will love this film.
I thought this was a great film, couldn’t stop laughing out loud, and i watched it alone!
