The Back-Up Plan

Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) is ready for a baby in her life, but she has not found Mr. Right.  She decides to get inseminated and is really excited to possibly be a mom very soon.  On her way home, it starts raining, so she hails a cab and Stan (Alex O’Loughlin) jumps in at the same time.  They argue over who is going to get it, and they both end up getting out and having to walk.  Zoe runs into Stan again and they decide to go on a date.  After hitting it off, Zoe is so happy and figures that there is no way she can get pregnant on her first attempt through insemination.  Boy was she wrong!!!!Zoe finds out she is pregnant after Stan asks her back to his farm when she decides she needs to tell him that she is pregnant.  She also refuses to sleep with him during this time, but ends up giving in because of her raging pregnant hormones.  Right after, she throws up and explains her pregnancy.  Stan is very shocked, but decides to stay by Zoe’s side.  They deal with nine months of them finding out she is going to have twins, buying baby items, and balancing their jobs.  They even get to witness a water birth and Zoe becomes the focal point!

As in every romantic comedy there is, Zoe and Stan break up over a stupid fight, and of course end up together at the end when they both realize that they were wrong to only live happily ever after.  This film is a total chick flick, but there are quite a few scenes where we see the dad-to-be’s point of view and worries.  I watched it with my husband and we both found ourselves laughing out loud and even acting like this couple in love at times.  I enjoyed watching the film and would see it again.  It reminded me a lot of The Wedding Planner, another film with Jennifer Lopez.  This film also stars Michaela Watkins, Tom Bosley, and a cameo of the modern Jan Brady herself, Jennifer Elise Cox.

I am a kindergarten teacher and everyday is something new and exciting. I am also a cheerleading coach at Benet Academy. I have a dog named Paisley and a husband named Steve. I absolutely love shopping, beaches, and anything Disney. I also like to read a lot and listen to music, especially country. My favorite genre of movies is romantic comedies, which are the ideal chick flicks!
