The Duchess

Keira Knightley took my breath away through her role in The Duchess.  This historic 18th century film captures the life of Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire in her political, motherly, and social role.  Audiences witness Knightley giving justice to this historical and powerful aristocrat.  Her acting captivated and moved me throughout this film.  I could not take my eyes off the impeccable costume design and artwork through The Duchess and Knightley made each costume creation look sensational!

Knightley plays Georgiana, the aristocratic Duchess of Devonshire.  This biographical drama takes place during the 18th century.  Audiences witness Georgiana’s adult life as she experiences the life of a royal noblewoman.  Her husband, the Duke of Devonshire, played by Ralph Fiennes, controls Georgiana’s life and livelihood.  It is her story that goes down in history books and creates a powerful film that will take your breath away.

Michael O’Connor won an Oscar in 2009 for Best Achievement in Costume Design for The Duchess and it clearly shows in the film.  The visuals and setting for The Duchess was astounding and, in my opinion, made the film. Knightley and Fiennes create magic on film and  I can say this is a film I thoroughly enjoyed.  Give it a rent or download and see the amazing artwork made to movie.

I am a 20-something female from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL. I am married and a proud parent of two wonderful cats, Klaus and Liza! I love playing board games & video games, reading anything, talking to people, yoga, and drinking lots and lots of coffee. I would consider myself a pretty easy going person who can basically get along with anyone.
