The Hangover

TheHangoverWhen this movie first came out this past summer, I was actually forced by my husband to see this in theaters.  I pictured this movie being a “sausage-fest-film” filled with drunk guys, boobies, lots of unnecessary man cussing, and a brain-less plot.  However, I stand corrected.  The Hangover is unlike anything what I expected it to be and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish!

Doug Billings (Justin Bartha) is about to get married to the lovely Tracy Garner (Sasha Barrese).  Before he plunges into the greatest commitment of his life, Doug’s wedding party (consisting of his two best friends and Tracy’s awkward brother) plan a bachelor party in Vegas to celebrate man-hood and to help Doug have one amazing night!  Phil (Bradley Cooper), who seems to be the the ring-leader of the group, is a married hottie with no maturity level, whatsoever.  Ed Helms plays Stu, an uptight dentist who worries about everything and is lying to his control-freak girlfriend about this whole trip because she doesn’t believe in male-bonding.  Finally, Zach Galifianakis plays Alan, Tracy’s unconventional brother who seems to be tagging along for the joy ride.

After a night of Vegas lights and action, the boys wake up in their hotel suite with a bad case of hangover and no memory of the last 12 hours.  The suite room and the boys are a mess and to top it off, no one can find Doug, the man about to be married!  Phil, Stu, and Alan look for clues around the suite and go on an unforgettable journey of rediscovering their previous night.  To top it off, the boys are racing against time, as they have to get the groom back to his bride before the wedding!

HangoverAs previously mentioned, I highly expected The Hangover to be a chauvinistic film with male grunting and lots of unnecessary boobies flying in your face-but this was simply not the case!  I highly enjoyed this film and was laughing throughout the entire movie.  I appreciated witnessing the friendship and bond while being able to laugh at it, at the same time.  There were definitely some great character growth and I could not have asked for better comedic work.  But I’m not going to sit here and pick apart this great feel-good movie.  To put it plainly, this movie is hysterical and filled with memorable one-liners and scenes.  Zach Galifianakis is absolutely amazing in this film and earns comedic genius points for this one!  The Hangover deserves a solid 4 stars.  This is a movie I would love to own!  The Hangover comes out on DVD/BluRay on December 15, 2009 so order yours today!  Pick this one up this holiday season for anyone who loves a good laugh-male or female!
