An Indian woman Priya Sethi (Shriya Saran) living in her native country works as a phone operator for an American credit card company, but she uses an American accent to hide her location. Pretending to be San Franciscan “Jennifer David” Priya contacts Granger Woodruff (Jesse Metcalfe) who lives in New York about fraudulent charges, which allows them to strike up a casual flirtation that causes both of them to question their love lives. He thinks he has had his identity stolen and wants to meet the credit card operator in person to talk about the situation. She decides to travel to the United States without telling her family in order to meet the New Yorker in San Francisco. She was hoping that a romantic rendezvous would take place.
Problems arise when they finally meet and she decides not to reveal her true identity. When her family comes to America to find her they meet the man she has fallen in love with and don’t accept him one bit. As the cultural divide widens between them, Priya and Granger must find the courage to overcome the hurdles to their relationship. With its great leads and some what amusing cast, comes a sweet-natured romantic fantasy that poses real questions about how love and truth can bring individuals and cultures together in today’s society.
