Sara (Minka Kelly) is starting school and like everyone else, can’t wait to meet her new roommate.  Rebecca (Leighton Meester) and Sara become fast friends, but whenever Sara talks about a problem with someone, Rebecca seems very overprotective.  She will make comments about how they should go out together more, or how it was rude of this person to ditch Sara, etc.  As more people come into Sara’s life, Rebecca gets stranger and starts getting rid of the individuals one by one; some by relocation, others by death.  Sara starts to notice a difference in Rebecca once she started dating Stephen (Cam Gigandet) and she freaked out on Sara when she came home very late one night.  She also got very upset when Rebecca chose to go to Stephen’s for break, which forced Sara to go home with Rebecca.  This is where Sara finds out that she is supposed to be taking medication to calm herself, and Sara starts looking into what is really wrong with Rebecca.
The Roommate is a pretty good thriller. Â I usually do not watch any type of horror films, but this one intrigued me. Â It also had many of my favorite CW actors, such as Alyson Michalka, Nina Dobrev, and Matt Lanter. Â I really liked seeing Leighton Meester play a role completely different from her ‘Blair Waldorf” role on Gossip Girl. Â I probably will not watch the movie again, but I didn’t think it was that bad. Â I think this is a good rental when you are at home and want to creep yourself out a little bit!
