this_is_it_one-sheet_hi-resAfter losing one of the greatest entertainers of all time, fans are catching a glimpse of the life and legacy of Michael Jackson on the big screen with This Is It.  This movie is a compilation of interviews, backstage footage, and rehearsal, artfully stitched together.  Movie watchers experience how Michael worked with his talented crew of dancers, choreographers, musicians, light crew, stage hands, and the hundreds of individuals who made his music and vision come to life.

This movie depicts Michael Jackson‘s masterful stagecraft and how he changed the entertainment business.  I was surprised to see how he perfected each sound, light, and dance move with such skillfulness.  It was moving to see him work with his crew with such humbleness and kindness.  Michael never seemed to miss a beat with his work, mastering each dance move and hitting each note.  Despite all the allegations of drug use and exhaustion, Michael constantly worked to perfect his artistry, as seen through the movie. Throughout the entire movie, I noticed I was constantly smiling and tapping my foot to all the classic songs that everyone knows and loves.

mjWatching the audience around me also indicated that he touched many lives with his talent.  In the beginning of the movie, there is a short synopsis of what the movie is about.  During the short paragraphs flowing across the screen, the audience was completely silent.  It was actually quite moving knowing the audience gives such respect for one of the greatest entertainers of all time.  This Is It, however, ends on a positive note.  I left feeling uplifted, almost like I walked out of his concert and had a great time, except my feet weren’t killing me and my ears weren’t ringing!  The entire audience cheered and roared after the movie ended (which is a rarity after most movies).  I would recommend experiencing This Is It in the theaters, therefore, I am give this movie a full five stars!  The sound was spectacular and made all the difference for me.  This movie is a reality of Michael Jackson‘s ingenious work and his impact on the entertainment world, even up to the end.

I am a 20-something female from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL. I am married and a proud parent of two wonderful cats, Klaus and Liza! I love playing board games & video games, reading anything, talking to people, yoga, and drinking lots and lots of coffee. I would consider myself a pretty easy going person who can basically get along with anyone.
