Beth (Kristen Bell) is a workaholic who has no interest in love. Â She is working on a new project when her sister Joan (Alexis Dziena)Â announces her engagement and is getting married in Rome. Â Beth leaves to go to the wedding and meets the best man Nick (Josh Duhamel) who she becomes attracted to. Â They really start to hit it off at the reception, when she sees Nick kissing another woman. Â Beth becomes upset and then decides to splash around in the fountain and takes some coins since dreams do not come true. Â She takes five coins out of the fountain and five guys fall in love with her, including Nick.
They start to follow her through out New York and make her go crazy. Â There is an artist (Will Arnett) that paints pictures for her, a model (Dax Shepard), a magician (Jon Heder), and a butcher (Danny DeVito). Â She is having a hard time concentrating on her work with all of these men coming after her, including Nick. Â She does not tell Nick about the spell, but does fall hard for him until she finds an identical poker chip in his apartment that matches the one she took out of the fountain in Rome. Â Joan calls Beth with some news that she can return the coins to there owner and the spell will be broken, but Beth’s coworker Stacy (Kate Micucci) steals the coins for her own good and on one of the biggest nights of her career she needs to find a way to balance her work and the chaos of her five lovers!
When in Rome is a good romantic comedy, and I found myself laughing out loud quite a few times. Â I have not seen a decent chick flick that made me laugh and saw “awe” in a while. Â I think Josh Duhamel is just great! Â He is very funny, and fits in well with the romantic comedies. Â I really enjoyed the film and I think that anyone who likes cheesy romantic comedies will enjoy it too!

hmmm…i guess the movie is better than the trailer. i hate when they do that. how are people supposed to be enticed to see a good movie?
Unfortunately I have no desire to see this film. The previews look extraordinarily predictable. Let me guess….Beth and Nick get together in the end??? Gee I hope I didn’t ruin the ending for anyone!
Sorry—didn’t mean to sound like a jerk!
I had no desire to see this one either, after seeing the poster (which you have in the picture). Something about the cutesy way Kristen Bell is biting her fingernail just turns me right off.
But…based on your review maybe I’ll change my opinion! A good laugh and “awe” would be nice.
