Zoolander is one of my all time favorite comedy films!  As stupid as this sounds, I think this comedy is so ridiculously hilarious that you just have to love it.  This old school comedy has all of our favorite comedians and precious one liners that you are probably still quoting today!

Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) has won the “Male Model of the Year” award for three consecutive years.  When Hansel (Owen Wilson), a fresh new and upcoming male model, wins over Zoolander, he decides it’s time for a lifestyle change.  Derek returns to the homeland, however he is greeted with embarrassment from his father and scorn from his brothers due to his male model gig.  With nowhere else to turn, Derek has no choice but to return to the fashion world.  He is given the opportunity to be the headliner for the esteemed Mugato (played by Will Ferrell) and his new line “Derelict”.  Derek has no idea that Mugato is really brainwashing him to murder the Malaysian Prime Minister so that cheap labor is still available for his product line.  Time Magazine’s journalist, Matilda (Christine Taylor) is the only one who is aware of Mugato’s evil plan and sees the true beauty of Zoolander’s male model characteristics.

The story and characters in Zoolander are so outrageous that you just have to give it a laugh.  Secretly, the true reason I wanted to watch Zoolander again is because I heard Alexander Skarsgard was portrayed in the film!  (He plays the short life of Zoolander’s roommate, Meekus).  For those of you who do not know Alexander, he actually plays Eric Northman on True Blood.  Since I am a new die-hard True Blood fan, I had to see it for myself.  But back to the movie….my favorite part of Zoolander is the male-model show down.  (I think Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” makes that scene).  Zoolander is filled with laughs and it is great to see an older comedy where our favorite actors have originated.  Give this one a watch again and remember how much you loved it!
